Following the reports on New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb’s sports hernia surgery, another Saints player, wide receiver Devery Henderson was also reported to have had the same surgery during the offseason. If it is true, the number of Saints having had the surgery during the past two years has increased from six to eight.
According to reports, Henderson’s absence from an awards program two weeks ago caused the media to suspect the receiver could have gone to Philadelphia for the sports hernia surgery. By so far, Henderson still has not been available to make any confirmation, and the team simply declined to make any comment just as they did when they were asked about Stinchcomb’s surgery. While Stinchcomb later came out to acknowledge on his own that he had a surgery, the Saints’ silence could be taken as tacit confirmation.
If Henderson’s absence is really because of the sports hernia surgery, it would be unnecessary to worry about his playing status for games when regular season begins. Recovery from a sports hernia surgery usually takes three to four weeks, so Henderson and Stinchcomb could miss the team’s OTAs but will definitely be available for the training camp in their Saints jerseys to prepare for the preseason and regular season.
