According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports, the Cleveland Browns are trying to acquire a quarterback through a trade with another team instead of having a free agent quarterback on the open market put on Browns jersey.
Per the reports, Browns team president Mike Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert are interested to acquire a quarterback from their former teams, and Seattle Seahawks’ Matt Hasselbeck and Philadelphia Eagles’ Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb are obviously on the list.
What about their current quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn?
According to the Plain Dealer, the Browns are very likely to release Anderson to avoid paying him the $2 million roster bonus on March 19. And Quinn, who is still being evaluated by the Browns, could be within the price Browns offer to acquire a new quarterback from another team.

Browns safety Pool has no plan to retire
Because of concussions he used to suffer, the Cleveland Browns safety Brodney Pool has been guessed to have plan of retirement in 2010. However, his agent, Ben Dogra cleared recently that the safety will continue wearing Browns jersey in NFL games.
"Brodney absolutely intends on playing football for many years to come," Dogra wrote in an e-mail. "He has been checked out and has a clean bill of health. He is anxious to play football in 2010."
At age 25, it is really early for Pool to talk about retirement. But he missed the final five games of last season because of concussions after starting 10 games. Nonetheless, the Browns still value him and give the second-round level of $1.276 million or the first-round tender of $2.621 million as the price of trading for him.

2009 season out-of-expectation: Cleveland Browns
Well, the Cleveland Browns are at least now much less disappointing team, though the team is still a low-rank team in the league, but at least they have made a large step up from the bottom.
Winning only one of the first 14 games of the regular season, the Browns’ performance disappointed many fans. They stayed at the bottom of the ranking for quite a long time, and many of the teams who beat them won the game easily by lopsided scores. But when all people thought the Browns had been done for the season, they surprised us by achieving a four-game winning streak!
The last four consecutive wins were far from enough to save the Browns, but they did work in bringing many fans back after they were to disappointedly toss away their Browns jerseys and vow not to support the team anymore. Making some moves with the roster and managing group, the Browns expect and are expected to have a better season in 2010.

Jets WR Edwards pleaded not guilty to assault charge
Even being in a different team in New York, wide receiver Braylon Edwards still has to deal with something that happened during his time with old team in Cleveland. Being arraigned in Cleveland Municipal Court on Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge.
The receiver now playing game in Jets jersey was accused of punching a man outside a downtown nightclub last month when he was still a Browns player. Two days after being accused, he was traded to the Jets by the Browns, who seemed eager to get rid of troubles caused by Edwards’ punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James on Oct. 5.
Edwards waived his right to a speedy trial and was scheduled for a Dec. 12 court hearing
While the Browns thought they had to get rid of the receiver, Edwards himself might also feel happy for being traded, considering that he dropped passes, criticized the team’s play-calling, and argued with teammates while playing for the Browns.

Want win- Browns fans planned to protest on Nov. 16
Mike Randall, a lifelong fan for the Cleveland Browns, is planning a protest on Nov. 16th night, when the Browns will play home game against the Baltimore Ravens. He wants to tell the Browns that the fans have been fed up with losses.
“We’re tired of losing,” the 39-year-old Randall said. “We’re tired of the booing, of seeing fans leave in the fourth quarter. There are fans who have had tickets for 30 years who are turning their seats in because they can’t take it anymore. So many fans are fed up.”
His plan is to encourage other Browns fans to stay away from their seats for the opening kickoff of the game in hope that Browns Owner Randy Lerner and club officials will see how much they have disappointed the fans when seeing empty seats for the start of the nationally televised Monday night game.
After last Sunday’s 31-3 loss to the Green Bay packers, the Browns is now 1-6, and actually they have been nearly losing constantly since returning to the league in 1999. Many fans left in the fourth quarters and those stayed to the end grumbled about wasting time and money, which has not only been spent on tickets but also on the Browns jerseys thy were wearing for supporting the team. Browns nose tackle Rogers missed second practice for non-injury reason
On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers missed his second consecutive day of practice. But do not worry, he is in good health condition and there is not any dispute about contract. Just some family matter and the team are confident that he does not have to practice before playing Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh.
6 foot and 350 pound, Rogers is the top defensive lineman in Browns jersey. He was credited with four tackles in last week’s win over the Buffalo Bills, and blocked a field-goal attempt and extra-point kick as the Browns forced the Bengals into overtime before losing one week earlier.
The family matter may keep the tackle from practice for a few days and he was expected to return on Friday. And the team did not seem to worry at all on his performance against the Steelers.

NFL is looking into Browns WR Edwards assault case
On early Monday morning, the Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards allegedly punched promoter Edward Givens. If it was true, he might have made a big trouble for himself, as Givens is a friend of NBA star LeBron James.
Cleveland police are trying to collect information on the case and identify possible witnesses, and the league is also looking into the case and investigating whether Edwards violated the league’s conduct policy. According to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, discipline may be imposed for “the use or threat of violence.”
Edwards may also face team discipline from first-year Browns coach Eric Mangini, who is strict with his players and fined a player $1,700 for not paying for a $3 bottle of water during a hotel stay earlier this season.

Browns coach Mangini planned to have Rogers starting on DT
Although the Cleveland Browns Shaun Rogers had missed the entire preseason, Coach Eric Mangini still would like to have him starting in the season opener.
“He’s working to get back,” Mangini said, “and I’m happy with the way he’s working.”
Rogers injured his foot during a practice on Aug. 2. After being held out for two weeks, he wore back his browns jersey and hit the tackling sled and working on individual drills on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, he worked mainly on the stationary bike and joined his defensive teammates on the sideline for the end of practice.
As the team’s only Pro Bowl representative last year, Rogers recorded 81 tackles and 4 1-2 sacks. And the team would decide late this week about whether to have him playing for Saturday’s preseason home game against the Tennessee Titans.

Browns coach Mangini not surprised by Favre’s comeback
Eric Mangini coached Brett Favre last season with the New York Jets before going to the Cleveland Browns, so he thought he knows Favre will enough not to be surprised by his comeback.
“Brett’s a Hall of Fame player, a great guy, a fierce competitor and like I told him a long time ago, whatever decision he makes, he’ll make right,” Mangini said. “He’s a fun guy to coach, a fun guy to have as a teammate and I feel like I’m a better coach from the experience of being with him.”
Despite the fact that the Browns will play against Favre and the Vikings on Sept. 13, Mangini still considers himself a Favre fan. He said that the game between Cleveland and the Minnesota will “make for good TV.”
