Dolphins RB Cobbs wants to return in time for preseason

The Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Cobbs was finally removed from injured reserve months after he had a surgery to repair his injured knee. Seeming satisfied with the progress of recovery, Cobbs is now confident that he will be physically healthy enough to play the first preseason game but he may need some more time to get mentally fully recovered for performing as expected in regular season.

"I knew right when it happened that something wasn't right," Cobbs told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "It kind of crushed me. I was hurt more emotionally than I was with my knee right at the time. I got a lot of my confidence back in the weight room, putting pressure on it. It's kind of slow to build. I haven't got it all back but I'm making it."

Describing Cobbs as a versatile third-down threat and Wildcat option, Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano also expressed his high expectation on Cobbs, because Cobbs is one of the few players who can do a lot of jobs that other people are unwilling to do. Cobbs is not only willing to do such jobs but also do them well. Since he was injured by a tackle in Saints jersey during a game last season, the whole team has missed him a lot.
